  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 medium cabbage, thinly shredded (about 4 cups)
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen green peas
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped for garnish

Method / Preparation

Follow step-by-step instructions
  1. Heat oil in a large pan or kadai over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  2. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until it turns translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder. Sauté for 30 seconds, adding a splash of water if the spices stick to the pan.
  5. Add the shredded cabbage and green peas. Season with salt to taste. Mix well.
  6. Cover the pan and cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender-crisp and the peas are cooked through.
  7. Remove the lid, sprinkle with garam masala, and mix gently. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing any excess moisture to evaporate.
  8. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
