Ingredients

Check off items as you gather them
  • 4 medium potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera)
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped

Method / Preparation

Follow step-by-step instructions
  1. Wash and boil the potatoes until tender. Once cooled, peel and cut them into 1-inch cubes.
  2. Heat the cooking oil in a large pan or kadai over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  3. Add the diced potatoes to the pan and stir gently. Cook for 2-3 minutes, allowing them to get a light crispy coating.
  4. Sprinkle in the turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well to ensure all potatoes are evenly coated with the spices.
  5. Cook for another 8-10 minutes on medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes are lightly golden and the spices are fragrant.
  6. Garnish with fresh chopped coriander leaves before serving.
  7. Serve hot with roti, paratha, or as a side dish with dal and rice.
