  • 3 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1/2 cup grated paneer
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped carrots
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green beans
  • 2 tablespoons cornflour
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon green chili paste (or to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs, for coating
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Wooden skewers or lollipop sticks

Method / Preparation

Follow step-by-step instructions
  1. In a large bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, grated paneer, chopped carrots, green beans, cornflour, ginger-garlic paste, green chili paste, garam masala, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well until everything is evenly combined into a firm dough-like consistency.
  2. Divide the mixture into small equal portions. Shape each portion into an oval or cylindrical 'sausage' shape, about 2 inches long.
  3. Insert a wooden skewer or lollipop stick into one end of each shaped 'sausage' to form a lollipop.
  4. Roll each veg lollipop gently in the breadcrumbs, ensuring an even coating all around. Press lightly so the breadcrumbs adhere well.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pan or kadai over medium heat. To check if the oil is hot enough, drop a tiny piece of the mixture; it should sizzle and rise to the surface immediately.
  6. Carefully lower a few lollipops into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry them in batches.
  7. Fry for 3-5 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides.
  8. Remove the fried veg lollipops with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  9. Serve hot with your favorite chutney or tomato ketchup.
